Most of the kitchens we are asked about in Lutterworth are not really kitchen jobs. They are structural jobs with a kitchen at the end of them, because the thing the customer actually wants is the wall between the kitchen and the old rear addition to disappear.
On the older houses in town that rear addition was usually a scullery, built lighter than the main house and often on shallower foundations. Opening into it is entirely doable and we do it often, but it needs a beam sized for what is genuinely above it and it needs the padstones and the bearing checked rather than assumed. That is a Building Regulations matter, and we arrange the inspection and see it signed off.
Services are the other half of the job. Moving a sink in a house with a suspended timber floor is straightforward. Moving one in a post-war house with a solid floor means chasing or reworking the run, and it is better to know which you have before the units are ordered rather than after.
We do not sell kitchens. You buy the units wherever you get the best deal, and we take the room back to sound walls, level floors and services in the right places so that the fit goes in properly. If your supplier’s plan will not work in the space, we will say so while it can still be changed.
Our kitchen work page covers what we do and what we leave to your supplier.
