Kitchens in Rugby

Kitchens in Rugby, priced in writing before anything starts.

Kitchens in Rugby, done properly

A kitchen in Rugby is rarely just a kitchen. On the terraces near the town centre it is usually a kitchen plus whatever the back of the house has already been through: an old outrigger, an added lean-to, or a previous knock-through that decided where the services run.

On the post-war semis further out the layout tends to be more predictable, and the work is more often about opening the room up to the garden or the dining space than about undoing someone else’s alterations.

Either way the sequence matters more than the units. We plan the services moves, the floor and the walls first, because a kitchen fitted around an unresolved layout is the job people call us to redo. The specification is on our kitchens page.

Why choose Southfield Construction

Four things we commit to on every job, rather than four things we say about ourselves.

We see Building Control through to sign off

Permitted development is not an exemption from Building Regulations. We arrange the Rugby Borough Council inspections, meet the inspector on site at each stage and see the work through to sign off. We do not make the application itself, and we will tell you what is needed and when.

A price in writing before anything starts

Free, and you get it before you commit to us. Party walls and skip licences are raised at quotation stage, not three weeks into the dig.

One team from first dig to final snag

The same people do the groundworks, the brickwork and the fit out. Nobody hands your job to a subcontractor you have never met.

We will tell you if a job is not right for us

You get a straight answer rather than a padded price. It costs us a job occasionally and saves you a great deal more.

How we approach the work

Process, specification and what moves the price are set out on our kitchens page.

Planning, regulations and practicalities

The answers that genuinely differ from one Rugby street to the next.

Do I need planning permission, and who handles Building Regulations?

A kitchen refit inside the existing footprint is not a planning matter. The Building Regulations parts that apply are the electrical work, the gas work, the ventilation and, where a wall comes out, the structural opening.

We arrange the Building Control inspections and see the job through to sign off, and the electrical and gas work is certified.

Where does the skip go, and who applies for the licence?

The strip-out is the noisy part and it is short. The part worth planning for is the gap between the old kitchen going out and the new one being usable.

We give you that period as a number of days at quote stage, and we sequence so that water and power come back before the cosmetic work rather than after it.

Delivery is the other practical item. A full kitchen arrives on a pallet, and on the narrower terraced streets near the centre that cannot always be unloaded outside the door. We arrange the drop and the storage to suit the property rather than leaving it on the pavement.
