Most Corby kitchen enquiries are structural. What people want is the wall between the kitchen and the dining room gone, and the units are what happens afterwards.
On conventional cavity construction this is well trodden work, and because the housing was built to consistent types, the structure is unusually predictable. That is genuinely helpful for pricing honestly. Predictable is not the same as trivial, though: the beam still has to be sized for what is actually bearing on it and the padstones and bearing checked rather than assumed. That is a Building Regulations matter and we arrange the inspection and see it signed off.
Where the house is one of the non-traditional post-war types the picture changes, because the internal walls may be doing something quite different from what they appear to be doing, and in some systems the structure is in the frame rather than in the walls at all. Establishing the type comes before designing the opening.
Floors are solid on almost all of this stock, which means moving a sink or a drain is a breaking out and chasing job rather than lifting a couple of boards. Better known before the units are ordered than after they arrive.
We do not sell kitchens. You buy the units wherever the deal is best and we take the room back to sound walls, level floors and services in the right places. Our kitchen work page covers where our part starts and where your supplier’s begins.
